Summary
Ronald Kita has over twentyfive years of accounting, financial audit, cost management and economic impact analysis experience. He began his career in public accounting with a "Big 6" firm, Price Waterhouse & Co. After five years he accepted a promotion with a client as Assistant Corporate Controller of a mid-size manufacturing concern. Ron Kita later accepted key accounting manager positions in financial forecasting, accounting policy, and accounting positions while working at two large Fortune 100 companies. He worked for 15 years with internal and external legal counsels on a number of major litigation case assignments as a forensic accountant. These cases involved the Department of Justice, the GAO, the DCAA, and a Senate Subcommittee while supporting three major law firms.
Currently, Ronald Kita is the Vice President and a forensic accountant at Equals&Kita, LLP. which provides economic impact analysis and forensic accounting support to the legal profession. Recent experience included over seven years of litigation support experience working for attorneys as an expert on labor - charging and payroll accounting practices. These cases have involved economic issues and damages, and on various issues related to generally accepted accounting principles and government contracts accounting issues, whether the case be on the plaintiff or defense side.
Mr. Kita and the firm's initial forensic accounting strength and niche in litigation support was based on seven years of corporate law department audit and investigation team experience which involved a major criminal investigation by the Justice Department. This very broad, multi-million dollar case required the innovation and creation of new audit methods and techniques for the investigation of $100 million legal subsidiaries and company divisions. The investigation issues ranged from labor fraud to executive compensation, from mis-characterization of contract costs to false billing, from mis-charged labor to false claims and sensitive personal, travel and entertainment expenses. The identified economic off-sets were used to mitigate the damages and claims by the Government. The range of successful case assignments have varied from government contracts to inventory accounting, from labor charging practices to false billings, from accounting malpractice to fraudulent claims based on false records, from estate valuation to divorce settlement, and from employee payroll to wrongful termination and loss of earnings.
Mr. Kita's most challenging assignments have involved a number of key attorneys, Washington D.C. law firms, corporations, and federal agencies such as U.S. Department of Justice, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, DOD-OIG, and the Defense Contract Audit Agency. These assignments involved computation of economic impacts of very complex time and labor - charging issues in the high technology electronics industry and settlement included implementation of self-governance and legal and ethical conduct training programs. He has testified as an expert witness in court and his deposition experience has been as an observer/consultant to the attorney and as a deposed expert.
His experience while working for a "Big 6" CPA firm included certified audits of mid to large-sized publicly-held corporations in the manufacturing and distribution industries, a regional broker-dealer of securities, and several small business concerns.
Ron Kita is a graduate of Cal State University at Long Beach, a Certified Public Accountant in California, and a graduate of the UCLA Graduate School of Management - Executive Program in Management, and has attended several courses in the UCLA Certificate Program in Government Contract Management and has lectured for the University of California at Irvine extension system.
